The travel app I use before every trip ✈️🧳

A confession about how I used to pack — and the small habit that finally fixed it.

I used to think I was actually pretty good at packing… until I started noticing that almost every trip looked the same.

The night before leaving, I'd open my suitcase, stare at it for a while, start making a random list in my Notes app, then spend the next hour trying to remember what I was forgetting. 😅

And somehow I would still arrive with five things I never touched and realize I forgot the ONE thing I actually needed.

The worst part was that every trip was completely different, but I was basically packing the same way every time.

They obviously shouldn't pack the same
  • A beach weekend in Florida?
  • A cold-weather trip?
  • A city where I'm walking 20,000 steps a day?
  • A trip with dinners, activities, swimming, hiking?

That's why I started using Packmates AI when I travel.

My actual trip, weather and all

Instead of starting with an empty list and trying to remember everything myself, I can build my packing list around the actual trip — where I'm going, what the weather will be like, and what I'm planning to do there.

Adapted for what I'm actually doing there

And I still change things, remove things I don't need, and add my own stuff. It just gives me a much better starting point.

Not just another packing app

Why it actually works

It actually checks the weather

Rain gear only shows up if it's actually going to rain. Sunscreen only if I'll need it. No more guessing.

It knows what I'm actually doing there

Hiking boots for a hiking trip, not a beach one. The list changes based on the actual activities, not a generic template.

Everyone sees the same list

My whole group sees it update live. No more "wait, did you already pack the charger?" texts the morning we leave.

And it's not just useful before you leave

It keeps working once you've actually landed

This one's for a 14-day Bali trip — hiking and camping instead of nightlife, so the list looks nothing like my Miami one. And if plans shift mid-trip (a hike gets added, the forecast changes), the list updates itself instead of me trying to remember what changed. Everyone still sees the same version, so no one's packing for a different trip than the one we're actually taking.

It's become one of those little things I do before traveling now without really thinking about it.

It sounds like such a small thing, but not having that "I know I'm forgetting something…" feeling before leaving is so nice.

If you're also the type of person who checks your suitcase five times before going to the airport, you might like it too. 😭
